Külastades oma viimasel Saksamaa reisil Martin Luther'i sünnilinna Eisleben'it sain teada, et Martin Luther'i isa Hans Luder (hiljem Luther) oli mitme Mansfeld'i lähistel oleva vasekaevanduse omanik.

Olles mäeettevõtte omanik sai Hans Luther pakkuda oma pojale head haridust, nii et juba vanasti aitas mäendus inimestel head haridust omandada.
